NB-Info-1-LG-FINALBreastfeeding your child has and always will be a personal choice but as the manufacturer and distributor of the Nature’s Bond breast pump, the Devon Medical Products team was thrilled to hear that not only is business booming in the United States but in Europe too.

According to a study by the Health Resources and Services Administration, the average length of a maternity leave in the United States is 10.3 weeks, so for mothers who want to continue breastfeeding but need to return to work, using a breast pump is crucial to their continued success.

According to the latest market study released by Technavio, the breastfeeding supplies market is expected to grow a whopping 4% from now until 2020.

The market report analyzed three major product segments: breast milk storage and feeding, breastfeeding pumps, and breastfeeding accessories.

The analysis pointed to technological innovations and the growing number of working women as the catalyst for the projected growth.

“Owing to this stability, the demand for breast milk storage and feeding products in Europe is likely to remain stable over the next five years,” says Brijesh Kumar Choubey, a lead analyst at Technavio for retail goods and services.

Breast milk storage is a very important factor that many new moms need to familiarize themselves with when deciding to breastfeed their children.

According to the La Leche League International, some important tips moms should remember when storing their breast milk are:

  1. Always wash storage container in hot, soapy water, air dry, and date before storage
  2. To prepare refrigerated milk, warm milk under warm running water for several minutes or immerse container in pan of water that has been heated on the stove.
  3. Do not use microwave to heat milk as it may cause uneven heating and loss of some of the nutrients.
